Girls Build Summer Camps
Girls Build™ summer camp is a non-profit organization and are based out of Portland, Oregon. It offers girls 8 – 15 years old the opportunity to work in the world of building and enjoy various experiences in trade services. The community is strongly focused on building confidence in young girls when it comes to using tools and creating their own path in the trade world if they decide they want to go in that direction.
Some of the activities that are done during the camp include:
- Painting
- Roofing
- Auto & bike mechanics
- Sheet metal work
- Electrical
- Plumbing
- Carpentry
The program will run Monday – Friday from 8:30am – 4:30pm. Camps are limited to 40 girls per week, so signing up early is highly recommended.
Camp fees include breakfast and lunch.
A typical day may include team bonding games, icebreakers, workshops, guest instructors, and of course working hands-on on fun projects.
Campers will not only create their own projects but also work together in a group to create a bigger project. Some projects that have been built include chicken coops, playhouses, and picnic tables – all of which were donated to other nonprofits groups.
They have scholarship opportunities and offer free programs to children in the foster care system.
