Hofstra Construction Camp

Ready to get a feel for construction work? Does the smell of wood make you happy? Then Hofstra University has a wonderful construction camp for students entering grades 7 – 11. The construction camp features two different programs.

Introduction to Carpentry

Perfect for a beginner who has had no experience working in carpentry. Students will learn the basics of carpentry, electrical, tiling, plumbing and how to use common tools these trades need. Campers will actually help the local farm animals by offering services to build structures for the DD Ranch, a nonprofit. Personal projects will also be completed that campers will be able to take home.

Construction Trades Academy: Woodworking Projects

Skills around residential carpentry are what the focus of this camp is. Campers will learn rough and fine work in carpentry and learn how to perform basic home repairs. They will use learned skills to build their own Adirondack chair and a folding table.

No special application is needed, you can register on their website and enroll your child.
