Rosie’s Girls
Rosie’s Girls® is a part of the Vermont Works For Women organization and is a program just for middle school girls. The camp features experiences in the trades and allows girls to experience careers across a variety of disciplines that are considered non-traditional.
Girls can choose camps in the two main themes which are Build and Weld.
In the Rosie’s Girls Build camps, they will experience fun in a variety of woodshops around the state. They will use a variety of carpentry tools like saws, power drills, sanders, and more to create projects of different types.
In the Rosie’s Girls Weld camps the girls will engage with professional welders to learn how to use important welding tools like a MIG welder or plasma cutter. All students start with an introductory project and then will move on to other options.
All campers are supplied with ear and eye protection as well as work boots and gloves. Welding students will also receive welding helmets!
The girls will no only learn hands on skills. but will enjoy experiences that will help them improve their “Power Skills“. This part of the program features education about how to deal with life and societal issues. How to build healthy relations, self-advocacy, and how to keep a positive mindset even in difficult times.
