Norton has changed ownership several times throughout the years, finally landing in the portfolio of TVS Motor Company in 2020. TVS is the third-largest motorcycle manufacturer in India and second largest two-wheel exporter. The brand currently offers three models for sale in the UK including the Commando 961, V4SV, and V4CR.
According to Autoweek, none of these will be models that we can expect in the US.
TVS has stated that they will allocate roughly $260 million to production, facilities, and R&D to create what they consider “world-class quality engineering”.
Six new models are expected to be introduced over the next three years. We can expect to see the first model release in the US in 2025. There are no public details on the specs of any of the motorcycles , but, executives have promised to deliver that quintessential experience Norton is known for.
While the new Norton ownership under TVS Motor Company brings fresh resources and global ambitions, they’re not forgetting what made Norton great. Richard Arnold, Norton’s Executive Director, emphasizes the importance of honoring the brand’s heritage: “It’s really important that not only do we make bikes that are recognizable as Norton, but also that span for generations to come, as well as appeal to the people that remember the bikes of the past”.
For those concerned about whether the new Nortons will live up to their name, rest assured TVS is doing their best. They have invested in a state-of-the-art facility in Solihull, UK, ensuring that these bikes will be built to the exacting standards we expect from Norton.
The company is taking a measured approach, focusing on quality and customer care to avoid the pitfalls of past revivals.
So, fellow Norton enthusiasts, it’s time to dust off those leather jackets and polish those pudding basin helmets. The distinctive sound of a Norton twin will soon be echoing through American canyons and cruising down Main Streets once again. The legend is back, and it’s better than ever.
Are you ready to be part of Norton’s next great adventure.
